I. Engineering
a. Todd Long – placeCityHamilton County Storm Water District presented the proposed HCSWD rules and regulations to be adopted by all membership communities. The committee understood the proposal and is having the Village Engineer, Building Commissioner and Solicitor review for further recommendations. The Village will need to adopt some version of this in conjunction with the HCSWD or on its own.
II. Gorman Heritage Farm
a. Sandra Murphy provided updates of all plantings are in, product sales of eggs, poultry and other items is going well and up over last year. The Farm is still in the running for the SVP Grant for 2009, Grant winner should be announced by June 13, 2009.
b. Susan VanAmerogen mentioned that they were exploring renting the Trossert house to the public to try to generate income. The roof needs replaced and painting needs to be done on the inside.
III. Recreation
a. Seasonal Part time Hire Ordinance on the May agenda
b. Dave is evaluating leasing cardio equipment for the fitness center versus buying and will provide a future update.
c. Fourth of July activities are still planned even with other communities cancelling due to budget cuts.
IV. Service
a. Lighting for Reading Road south of Cooper Road is estimated at $40,000 and an additional $24,000 for island lighting. Committee was okay but would like to discuss in full council.
b. Tree plantings for the new Reading Road landscaping will be in the fall the balance of the work is to start this month.
V. Fire
a. Discussion on new apparatus- Chief Cruse mentioned he has spoken to the Mayor about a grant that he feels the Village can obtain, the main consideration for the grant is the current equipment must be retired from service completely, we are not allowed to dispose of it knowing that it would be used for fire service.
